Landscaping Equipment Everyone Should Own

What Landscaping Equipment Should You Own?

Landscaping requires some serious tools. A lot of landscaping just wouldn’t be possible without equipment. Lawn care is an important part of homeownership. Neglecting your lawn can have unfortunate consequences. Keep reading to learn the importance of landscaping equipment and what tools you just have to have.

The Importance of Lawn Care

Landscaping is important because it can affect the health of you and your yard. Trimming trees can keep dangerous branches from falling on your home or vehicle. Staying on top of your lawn care can keep all of your plants healthy. When trees die, they become a safety hazard. Dead trees are much more likely to fall onto homes, possibly injuring those inside.

Even when a neglected yard is safe, it’s unsightly. No one wants an ugly yard. When you fail to maintain your property, it shows. When plants can’t function, they wilt, lose their color, and die. Washed-away soil and dead grass aren’t fun to look at either. Landscaping equipment is necessary to keep your yard in tip-top shape.

Landscaping equipment is also a necessary part of gardening. Shears, shovels, and wheelbarrows are all pretty common in the average garden shed. Whether you like it or not, tools are required to keep your lawn and garden up to standard.

Lawn Care Equipment

When you own a home, it’s important to invest in lawn care equipment. Every homeowner could benefit from owning a lawn mower. Most people are familiar with lawnmowers. They cut grass, keeping it at a preferable height. There are many different types of lawnmowers. Picking the right lawn mower for your home depends on many factors. There are push mowers that are propelled by your own strength. There are motorized mowers that run on fuel. There are even riding mowers you can sit on while cutting the grass.

Lawnmowers can get pretty pricey. When buying one, make sure it fits your home’s specific needs. Otherwise, you might end up spending money on a mower with expensive features that you don’t need. If you have a small yard, you may want a push mower. These are great for lawn care on a budget. If you have the time and energy to use this type of lawn mower, it can save you money while keeping your yard in shape. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, you can invest in something that makes yard work easier. Large, ride-on lawnmowers might be a good idea for homeowners with large yards.

Once you’ve cut your grass, you want everyone to see it right? Keep pesky leaves out of your yard with a leaf rake or leaf blower. Leaf rakes are very common. They’re used to collect leaves in large piles. Leaf blowers are used to blow leaves off of your yard. It doesn’t matter how you get rid of leaves, just make sure you can actually see your lawn. No lawn is complete without these basic tools.

Landscaping Tools

Now that we’ve reviewed some of the more basic tools, let’s take it up a notch. Don’t worry, these tools aren’t scary, but they aren’t as commonplace as rakes and mowers. These tools can be used alongside lawn care to keep your property in perfect condition.

Soil rakes are similar to leaf rakes, but (unsurprisingly) they’re used for raking soil. Soil rakes move soil around where you need it. They can gather, flatten, and break up piles of soil. Soil rakes are great for gardens or areas where soil can be displaced easily.

Speaking of moving soil, no tool shed is complete without a shovel. Shovels can be used for just about any landscaping project. They’re so versatile that it’s hard to imagine getting a project done without one. If you have a specific project in mind, it helps to know about the different kinds of shovels

Trimming branches is a major part of lawn care. Investing in the right equipment can make this important task less of a hassle. Trimming branches can protect your roof during a storm. Pruning other plants can keep them healthy and attractive. Untrimmed plants can look very unkempt. You wouldn’t leave your grass unattended, so why wouldn’t you trim your other plants?

There are a few tools that can be used to trim plants. String trimmers can be used to cut grass and weeds. It cuts the grass by spinning a thin string of material around very quickly. Edgers are similar tools that are used to form boundaries along your lawn. As the name implies, they shape the edges of your yard.

Shears can be used to cut larger plants. Garden shears can cut small branches and roots. They can prune plants or be used to cut up unwanted plants. Be careful not to use garden shears for larger branches though. Large branches can cause small shears to break. For larger projects, be sure to get large tools like hedge shears or loppers. Loppers are tough shears made for thick, wood branches.

Landscaping Equipment

Not every homeowner will need the latest in landscaping equipment. However, if you want to get serious about landscaping, these tools might be for you. Spreaders can be used to distribute fertilizer across large areas. These are a must-have for anyone with a large garden. They make spreading fertilizer so much easier. Sprayers have a similar function, but they can be used to spray pesticides.

If you plan on transporting a lot of landscaping materials, you could benefit from buying a wheelbarrow. Wheelbarrows make sure you don’t have to lug mulch or fertilizer back and forth all day. Save your back muscles from harm by investing in a wheelbarrow.

Tools for Your Yard

Unfortunately, maintaining a great yard requires some work. Make that work easier by investing in the right tools. Mowers, rakes, and blowers can keep your beautiful grass looking nice. Trimmers, shears, and loppers can prevent too much growth. Spreaders, sprayers, and wheelbarrows make transporting materials like insecticide or mulch a lot easier. While all of these tools can make lawn care easier, they can’t compare to a landscaping expert.
